I took a fun bookmaking class through my city, where each book was a traditional Japanese design, but each was small enough to fit in a compartment of a bento box (except for my scroll, which ended up a little long 
). In addition to the books, we also learned suminigashi (marbling paper), kumihimo (cord braiding) and koyori (paper twisting). I also learned how to make book cloth, use a tear knife, and various other skills related to general bookmaking.
